2008

Innovation remains at the heart of the strategy and if the Rocker has also made its appearance at other brands, at ZAG, it is the advent of the Double Rocker with the SLAP model (Style Libre Arrière Pays, literal translation of the Anglo-Saxon term Freestyle Backcountry). Even easier to pivot, even more lift and still at the origin of a new small revolution quickly imitated by the competition.

gerbe_et_lumie_re_2.jpg ZAG_2015__www.jeremy-bernard.com-3356.jpg

2007

Franck Bernes-Heuga, a rider from the ZAG team, took over the reins and quickly supported by new investors, they brought in a new dynamic serving a clear ambition: to become the reference brand on the freeride ski market.

2003

Wide, long and progressive tips (in other words, the first "Rocker") combined with very short radius, the patent is registered and the effects on the snow are so noticeable that ZAG wins the Brand New Award at the IPSO in Munich (the prize for the best innovation in the field of sport).

The Freeride 75 and the Gold, the largest ski on the market (up to 201cm with 93cm at the base) complete the offer. This is the beginning of the ZAG wave!

image004.jpg -_Double_couleur_weir_Zag_noir.png

2002

Based in Bourg Saint Maurice, high level snowboarder, ski instructor and shaper of the snowboard brand Nidecker, Stéphane Radiguet aka Zag, imagines a revolutionary pair of skis. The idea is simple: to allow all skiers to find all the sensations of snowboarding and to give them the possibility to both carve on the piste and float in the powder with disconcerting ease. The BIG 84 was born!

ZAG: A FRENCH SKI BRAND

ZAG is a know-how that was born in France in 2002 and more precisely in Bourg St Maurice.

A new independent ski brand that emerged at a time when snowboarding was cool but skiing a little less so. The idea of Stéphane Radiguet, aka ZAG, was to bring back the feeling of snowboarding on skis by developing a ski with a new technology, the rocker. In 2003, this rocker technology was awarded an ISPO Brand Award, and in 2008 we launched the first double rocker technology with the development of our SLAP range: a concentrate of our know-how.

We were just a small French ski brand in development at the time, and in 2010 we decided to think bigger by moving to Chamonix Mt-Blanc, the world capital of mountaineering and freeride skiing, to be among the biggest in French skiing. This is where our concept store, our headquarters and the famous LAB are located today. Indeed, ZAG skis are thought out, prototyped and tested in Chamonix, at the foot of the Grands Montets, by ski enthusiasts.

_Jordan_Manoukian_Contenus202310-2.JPG

The LAB: a prototyping workshop in the heart of the French Alps

The Lab is where all the magic of ZAG begins. Since 2015 Bastien Saillard, head of R&D, has been imagining, designing and testing your next skis.

It is here in the French Alps that the prototypes of the future ZAG models appear and are tested in the wake of the Grands Montets ski area, the Mecca of freeride in France. This proximity to the ski area allows us to react quickly and efficiently. Indeed, if there are things that need to be modified or improved on the skis, as soon as Bastien gets back from a riding session, he can modify his prototypes as he sees fit and thus arrive at the perfect "recipe" to offer you ever more efficient skis!

Our shop in Argentière

Our shop is also at the foot of the Grands Montets! Don't hesitate to stop by on your way to ride to test a pair of SLAP 112s if mother nature is on our side or a pair of HARFANG 86s to carve the piste in big curves. We offer ski tests all winter long on all our models and if you decide to go ahead and buy a pair, come to the shop and our salesman will be happy to advise you and tell you more about the brand (and maybe even show you around the Lab?)

DSC04458.jpeg

The brand's headquarters

And not surprisingly (you may have guessed it) but our headquarters is at the foot of the Grands Montets in Argentière! This is where all our small team works to offer you the best possible services. From the HR department, to the accounting department, to the marketing and events department, all the people at ZAG bring the brand to life at an altitude of 1250 m in the heart of the mountains.

In short, at ZAG we are committed to our French know-how to guarantee you good and beautiful skis from Chamonix! And if you come to ride here, don't hesitate to come and visit the shop!
